Mangroves in Abu Dhabi
This biodiversity hotspot is amongst the key mangroves in the region; in fact, it makes up around 75% of UAE’s mangrove forest area! The Mangrove National Park is located on the fringes of the city centre and is easy to reach. When it comes to nature-based sightseeing in Abu Dhabi, amongst the best things you can do is to go kayaking here which lets you get up close to the flora and fauna; alternatively, boat cruises are available as well.
The environment at this site is known for its diversity and features not just mangrove forests, but algal communities, mudflats and salt marshes. There are several channels for you to explore and which will offer a closer look at indigenous trees which purify the water and function as natural windbreakers too.
Equally enthralling are the different wildlife and birdlife species you can encounter while kayaking in the Mangrove National Park.
