Overview

Wildlife Encounters

The islands of the Quirimbas Archipelago are nesting grounds for several turtle species and between October and April, you may get a chance to see baby turtles hatching. From July to October, Medjumbe Island becomes an ideal place from which to witness migrating Arctic humpback whales, while frolicking dolphins are a popular sight the whole year through.

The clear waters around the island offer plenty of snorkelling fun and the surrounding Quirimbas Archipelago is a key diving destination; dugongs, tropical fish, dolphins, sharks, turtles, whales and more than 100 coral species are among the marine treasures that can be found here.
