When Can You Surf?

The short answer is all-year-around! Given that Sri Lanka is an island, either the west or the east coast is great for surfing depending on the time of the year you visit this little island nation. You can also rent your board in most towns so you don’t have to worry about travelling with your board.

West Coast

Once you arrive at the airport, if you want to get to the beach in little or no time, you’ll be happy to read that lounging on the beach is one of the best things to do in Negombo! Book a stay at a hotel like Heritance Negombo to kick off your tropical holiday with a bang!

South Coast

The southern belt of Sri Lanka is teeming with countless, quaint coastal towns. From Unawatuna and Hikkaduwa to Mirissa and Hiriketiya further down south, there are plenty of awesome towns to explore and not to mention some amazing beaches to discover!

East Coast

Arugambay has a reputation that precedes itself amongst the global surfing community. From hidden beaches to more popular strips, visiting this town during peak season is something you will not regret! There are also lots of lovely cafes to chill out in after your time out in the water.
