The Dubai Creek is a portal to the past and a wonderful reminder of the humble beginnings of this cosmopolitan and exciting city. Read on to learn more about what to expect when you visit the Creek.

Origins and Location

The Dubai Creek runs along in-between two areas known as Deira and Bur Dubai. It is a natural saltwater creek and it leads to the Gulf Sea, making it a very important segue to the ancient seafaring and trading routes. In the past, many tradesmen, with their wares, would disembark in Dubai after travelling up the creek.

Souks Galore!

With the advent of tradesmen, many souks and markets popped around the creek. Even today, two historic souks remain in Deira and are worth visiting. Of which one is teeming with spices and the other with gold. Both souks are within walking distance from each other and are a great opportunity to embrace Old Dubai!
