If you’re looking for an African destination that showcases all the wonderful wildlife that the continent has to offer, you can’t go wrong with the wilds of Zambia. Home to all kinds of diverse games, you’ll make some great memories out here in the bush.

The Big Five

When it comes to African wildlife, none are as popular as the fabled Big Five – the African elephant, lion, Cape buffalo, rhinoceros, and leopard. Zambia is one of the few countries in the continent that still supports all five of these amazing animals – so, you might just spot Africa’s biggest game in one single safari drive!

The Best Parks to Visit

There’re several great parks you can visit while you’re here in Zambia. If you want to spot a rhino, you’ll have to visit the Mosi-oa-Tunya Park that’s found hear Victoria Falls. It’s a quick visit if you’re staying at a Livingstone hotel – say, for example, the Royal Livingstone Hotel by Anantara. Options like the North Luangwa and the Lower Zambezi are great for lion and buffalo sightings.

Go Fishing

It’s not all about spotting game on the plains either, if you’re an avid outdoorsman, you’ll be pleased to know that Zambia offers some great fishing opportunities. Be prepared to reel in a tough game like the tiger fish and keep your eyes peeled for crocodiles and hippos on the water’s edge.

Best Times to Visit

As far as timing goes, try to visit Zambia during May and October. During this period the vegetation is more sparse and drier, which allows for easier sightings of wildlife.
