Dubai’s a great spot for a quick trip. The city has a deep history but also a very modern feel. Even if you’re only visiting for a short time, you can experience a lot of different things, from culture to adventure to just relaxing.

Morning in Old Dubai

Start your weekend in the Al Fahidi Historical District. Walk the narrow streets to see traditional houses and art studios. From there, take an abra, a traditional boat, across the Dubai Creek for just one dirham. You’ll arrive at the old markets, or souks. These markets are still active and show what the city was like as a trading hub.

Midday Adventures

Stay near Jebel Ali or central Dubai. Places like JA Resorts & Hotels are good because they give easy access to cultural and leisure activities. Visit the Dubai Frame for great views of both old and new Dubai. Or, book a desert safari for dune bashing, a falconry show, and a Bedouin-style dinner.

Evening Icons

As it gets cooler, it’s a good time to see some of Dubai’s famous sights. Watch the Dubai Fountain show next to the Burj Khalifa, one of the best things to do in Dubai. Then, have dinner at Souk Al Bahar or City Walk. For a quieter evening, go to Jumeirah Beach to see the Burj Al Arab lit up against the night sky.

Second-Day Highlights

Spend your last day on the Palm Jumeirah. The Aquaventure Waterpark has great slides, and the Pointe is a nice place for outdoor dining. Finish your trip with a dhow cruise through the Dubai Marina, where the skyscrapers shine after dark.
