Bali is renowned for its pristine coastline – every year thousands of travellers flock to the island to experience its picturesque beaches. Among these, the Padang Padang Beach in Uluwatu is among the most famous.

Getting There

The beach is situated in the village of Pecatu, which is around a 20-30-minute drive from the international airport. Scooters are probably the best way to get to Padang Padang, and there’s plenty of places to rent one Uluwatu – from there it’s around a 10-minute ride to the beach.

Where to Stay

There’s plenty of accommodation options in the areas that surround Padang Padang Beach, particularly in Uluwatu – Bali resorts are incredibly varied, and there should be something to suit every taste. Resorts like Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort also come with a host of amenities like a mini-theatre and fitness centre to keep you entertained after your excursions at the beach.

When to Visit

Bali’s tropical sun tends to stay nice and bright for most of the year, and this means beaches like Padang Padang can be visited and enjoyed all year round. That being said, the sun is brightest from around April to October and is perfect for a relaxing suntan or refreshing swim at the beach.

Beach Activities

The naturally foamy waves of Padang Padang are ideal for surfing; many of the locals are also willing to give you surf lessons if you’re a beginner. The Padang Padang Bali cliffs reveal themselves as the tide recedes – these can be the site of some excellent exploration and photo ops. There’s plenty of souvenirs to take home with you too at the beach, from locally made hats, t-shirts, and bracelets to a brand-new surfboard!
