Amidst all of its towering skyscrapers and historic neighbourhoods, Dubai nurtures a vibrant creative culture teeming with artistic expression and skill. If you’re looking to catch Dubai’s creative side, here are a few notable galleries to visit.
The Third Line
Established out of concern for the lack of Middle Eastern and North African artists in Western art culture, the Third Line champions contemporary talents who often go unnoticed. In addition to its many exhibits, the gallery also features limited-edition print collections and books for sale to help promote artists and their talents.
Jameel Arts Centre
Located on the Jaddaf Waterfront, this eye-catching venue cleverly combines contemporary art with captivating architecture. Home to an artist’s library and several rotating exhibitions, the Centre gives you plenty to marvel at – a great first stop on your artistic tour of the city from your hotel in Downtown Dubai.
Foundry
One of the more recent art installations in the city, the Foundry is a hub of creative activity open daily from 10 am to 10 pm. In addition to hosting several workshops, exhibitions and screenings, this versatile spot also has a free-access library and cosy communal spaces. It’s worth a visit if you’re based at nearby hotels like Anantara Downtown Dubai Hotel.

Tashkeel Dubai
This gallery was established in 2008 by artist Lateefa bint Maktoum to serve as a nurturing space for Dubai’s growing art scene and emerging artists. Today, it’s a hot spot for creative workshops and exhibitions covering everything from calligraphy to embroidery.
