Flag Palace

The Al Alam Palace is also fondly referred to as the Flag Palace and has been the location for many diplomatic liaisons of the reigning Sultan. It’s located in a part of the capital known as Old Muscat and is one of six palaces in which the Sultan resides.

Architecture

While the façade of the palace seems modern, yet distinctly Middle Eastern the original structure is over 2 centuries old! The striking appearance is complemented by the gold and blue exterior while the two Portuguese forts of Mirani and Jalali fortify this grand palace.

Walking By

While the Palace is not open to the general public, the outer grounds are an exception. Despite being in the capital of the country, the palace is located in a tranquil nook and will serve as an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
