Designed by WET Design, the Dubai Fountain has become one of the primary attractions of the city. Located strategically close to Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall, the fountain records daily visitors every evening who are eager to witness the choreographed movements of the high-pressure water jets.

The Location

Twenty minutes is all it takes to reach the Dubai Fountain from Avani Deira Dubai Hotel. Therefore, residents of hotels in Deira, Dubai will be at the convenience of paying a visit to this magnificent piece of entertainment, following a session of shopping at the Dubai Mall as well as a ride up high the Burj Khalifa, as the show takes place in the Burj Khalifa Lake of 30 acres.

How It Happens

The mechanism behind the water fountains is rather mind-blowing. The high-pressure water jets at the Dubai Fountain carry the ability to spray 22,000 gallons of water in the air. These day and night performances are illuminated with over 6,600 lights and 25 colour projectors while the swaying (or the dancing) is made possible by water robots.

The Choreography

Powered by shooters, oarsmen and water robots, the choreography is controlled by the latter. The water is shot with two different water shooters; the super shooters which shoot water up to 73 metres high and the extreme shooters which shoot water upto152.4 metres, while a loud ‘boom’ sound effect is added by these to enhance the overall performance.

The Music and Overall Performance

What is a dance without music? Similarly, the Dubai Fountain too requires its fair share of music to choreograph its moves for an unforgettable performance. The music that accompanies the dances is usually picked by the head of the choreography in WET design and often symbolises prominent events, if applicable to the date and time of the performance.
