Where is It?

This museum is in the nation’s capital, Doha, located on an artificial island across from the Corniche, easily accessible from properties like Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara. Amongst its striking features is its design by renowned Chinese American architect, I. M. Pei, which showcases traditional Islamic architectural elements amidst a picturesque waterfront setting.

What to Expect

Those visiting this attraction from their Doha suites will get a chance to witness one of the world’s premier collections of Islamic art. The exhibits range from those of three continents, some over 1,400 years old. Each gallery has something new to discover be it textiles, metalwork, woodwork, ceramics, glass or more, within the stylish interiors.

MIA Park

After your visit, you can unwind at the adjacent MIA Park, an idyllic spot for relaxation and recreation. There are play areas for children, while families and friends can have picnics here too. There is a café and gift shop close by and you can even embark on a memorable guided kayaking tour of the museum and harbour.

The Relaunch

Keep in mind that depending on when you visit, it may not be reopened yet. The museum is undergoing what it calls a “reimagining” of its interiors and is set to relaunch with new sections and experiences in the latter part of 2022. In case you can’t visit it, you can still view the stunning galleries on an interactive online virtual tour (https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=eguLShJnVTo).
