Famed for its national parks and beaches, Mauritius isn’t particularly well-known for its retail hotspots. These local markets and malls, however, remain some of the island’s most underrated highlights.

Quatre Bornes Market

Those on the lookout for exquisite textiles and clothing items will find this bustling thoroughfare the ideal shopping destination for their needs. Divided into two zones, the Quatre Bornes Market is a popular local bazaar that’s also frequented by residents.

Mahebourg Market

Flea market fanatics based at Anantara Iko Mauritius Resort & Villas or any similar Mauritius resorts in the area must also drop by this bazaar on the waterfront. Considered a great place to pick up handicrafts and souvenirs, this Monday market is particularly geared towards budget shoppers and bargain hunters.

Bagatelle Mall

With more than 155 boutiques occupying its confines, brand-conscious shoppers will find few malls that surpass the Bagatelle Mall in terms of luxury lifestyle products. Conveniently located near the M1 highway, it is a retail hotspot that is best known for its speciality stores and designer labels.

Phoenix Mall

Families holidaying in Mauritius will find that the Phoenix Mall is the perfect stopover for their brood. Although the mall is occupied by only 70 stores, the food outlets and international retailers found at the venue make it a one-stop recreational hub on weekends.
