Sri Lanka is a country that’s blessed with great wildlife sights. Minneriya National park is one such blessing in the country, and if you are travelling to Sri Lanka, this is a must-visit attraction for you!

Minneriya, Sri Lanka

Minneriya is a town that’s immensely popular among foreign travellers. Thanks to properties such as Habarana Village by Cinnamon and every Sri Lanka resort established nearby, Minneriya is a world-class tourist-friendly destination with an authentic vibe.

It’s one of the largest!

Located in the Northcentral Province of Sri Lanka, Minneriya National Park spans an area of 90 square kilometres.

It was first a wildlife sanctuary

Minneriya was declared as a wildlife sanctuary back in 1938. It was only in 1997, the government of Sri Lanka decided to have it as a National Park.

Minneriya Tank

It’s the highlight of the entire park! This tank was built by King Mahasen in the 03rd century AD. It’s an irrigational marvel of the country even though time has passed.
