Issuing and Submitting a Marriage Notice

Couples who wish to get married in Hong Kong must complete the Registrar of Marriages’ Form MR1(S) and submit the document via a civil celebrant or directly to the registrar office. The notice must be secured at least 15 days before the date of the wedding and the Notice of Intended Marriage will be valid for 90 days at which time the marriage should take place. A Certificate of Registrar of Marriages will also be issued which is valid for 3 months. If you are unable to solemnise the event within the period, you must submit a notice once more.

Pick a Location

Although it is possible to marry at City Hall, those who are heading to Hong Kong for a more exotic affair can choose from one of the countless wedding hotels in Hong Kong. Whether you choose the Park Hotel Hong Kong or any other venue, it is crucial to choose a romantic setting, either in a ballroom or an outdoor garden area that can accommodate your guests.  Public parks, restaurants and event venues in Hong Kong are also ideal for wedding ceremonies.

Hire Vendors

Next, it is time to find local photographers, caterers, decorators and entertainment options for your big day. There are several Hong Kong wedding registries online where some of the island’s top service providers including florists and beauticians are listed. It is important to consider your budget when hiring vendors as service providers differ greatly.

Book your honeymoon

If you are planning on having a destination wedding, then why not enjoy your quality time together as husband and wife while exploring the attractions in Hong Kong? Many hotels offer special packages for honeymooners with couple’s spa sessions, 4-course dinners and resort activities.
