While civil war initially took this destination off the map, it is now back. Mozambique is currently in the process of resurrecting its coastal resorts to increase tourism. Want to know more?

1) When to Visit

When Mozambique’s temperatures are dry and at their lowest between May and October, it is the most ideal time to visit. While travelling between November and January is quite okay as well, both the temperature and humidity will be much higher. It’s best to avoid the rainy season between February and April as most of the roads become impassable.

2) Getting Around

Since the distances are vast, flying would be the best option to travel within Mozambique unless you have time on your hands. If you’re looking for Mozambique island resorts to stay in, there’s many around such as the Anantara Medjumbe Island Resort for example.

3) Food & Drink

Staple food here includes cassava-based bread, chicken and rice. Chicken dishes oft come spiced with Piri-Piri which is a hot chilli sauce. Seafood is also excellent because of its fresh fish and prawns. Local beers like Laurentina and 2M are incredibly popular.

4) Health & Safety

To ensure your safety, make sure you’ve received vaccinations for typhoid, polio, diphtheria, tetanus as well as hepatitis A and B. With Malaria being endemic, consult your doctor regarding the recommended prophylaxis. Definitely make sure to drink purified water.
