The pivotal position of Sri Lanka in the ancient Silk Road has exposed this little pearl of an island to various cultures, thereby influencing, shaping and reshaping its interiors, allowing it to develop its very own uniqueness which has fascinated many since the ancient times. The arts and crafts being one of the many things that had developed with the times gone by, Sri Lanka arts have greatly benefitted from these transitions, thereby giving birth to many extraordinarily talented Sri Lankan artists over the years. Having said that, the history of arts in Sri Lanka dates back to the 2nd or the 3rd BC, inspiring many modern Sri Lanka artists by its sheer genius. The earliest evidence of Sri Lankan arts is the drawing of a palace on cloth that dates back to the 2nd BC while many other paintings had been discovered during archaeological excavations inside ancient stupas, temples and other historical monuments which had astonished many.
