1) History

Coffee was originally thought to have originated in Ethiopia with a long history that dates back to the 9th century. While it is widely consumed today, it first made its way to the Middle Eastern and Northern African regions around the 15th Century.

2) Preparation

While commonly referred to as Arabic Coffee, there are two distinct varieties. Al-Qahwa is one variety that uses heavily roasted beans, and the other is Turkish coffee is made from roasted and finely ground Arabica coffee beans. Its preparation commonly includes the addition of other spices and ingredients like cardamoms, cloves and saffron.
